WelcomeThe Wiseburn Unified School District is a small (tuition-free) public school system in the El Segundo/west Hawthorne area that serves the Wiseburn communities of Del Aire, Hollyglen, and Wiseburn. Wiseburn Unified School District also serves the children of employees from the surrounding aerospace, technology, travel, and entertainment industries, as well as families from the Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Mar Vista, and Ladera Heights area on an interdistrict permit transfer. The Wiseburn Unified School District has entered into a creative partnership with the Da Vinci Charter Schools which have been authorized by Wiseburn since 2009. These independent charter schools were locally created to provide a high school option for Wiseburn students and have already been recognized as a national model for 21st Century Learning. In this unique partnership, the three charter high schools, Da Vinci Communications, Da Vinci Design, and Da Vinci Science serve as the high schools for Wiseburn Unified School District. The Da Vinci Schools and Wiseburn have leveraged this partnership to finance and build the Wiseburn High School facility that will house all three high schools. In addition, the K-8 Charter Da Vinci Innovation Academy provides an independent study home-school hybrid option for families. The partnership between Wiseburn and Da Vinci can serve as a model for district and charter school cooperation for the benefit of students. High School Construction InformationThrough a creative partnership, Wiseburn Unified School District and Da Vinci Schools are financing and constructing a high school facility that is envisioned to be an innovative structure designed for 21st Century learning and teaching. A combination of $87 million dollar local bond and $52.7 million dollars in state matching funds from the Charter Schools Facilities Program will provide the funding for the building and grounds, including a multi-purpose theater, practice field, gymnasium and pool. In a joint-use agreement with the City of El Segundo, the Department of Parks and Recreation will maintain the pool and run aquatics programs, which will be available to El Segundo and Wiseburn residents.
